The Problem

AI workflows are becoming action systems, not just suggestion systems.

Slack highlights agents that can monitor signals, make decisions, and take action. Google is turning SOPs into reusable skills like invoice review. Atlassian lets teams build no-code agents, automations, and apps from plain-language prompts. Intercom explicitly says valuable AI work increasingly includes procedures where the AI gathers context, acts, and then hands off for human confirmation.

That creates a missing operational layer:

• when should work auto-complete vs pause for human review;
• which reviewer should approve which class of action;
• what policy and evidence should accompany the request;
• how should exceptions be handled;
• what is the audit trail for the final decision.

Native approval features exist inside some tools, but the real workflow usually spans chat, tickets, docs, forms, CRM, finance, and helpdesk systems. Companies need a vendor-neutral approval memory and routing layer for agentic work.
