The EU's electronic freight transport information (eFTI) regulation changes everything. From July 2027, all EU authorities must accept electronic freight documents. But the preparation window is now — certified eFTI platforms are already operational since January 2026. Companies that don't digitize will face inspection delays, compliance penalties, and competitive disadvantage.
Compounding the problem: a critical driver shortage (projected to triple by 2026 if unaddressed), skyrocketing fuel costs, increasingly stringent environmental regulations (EU ETS, CSRD for transport), and customer demand for real-time visibility. Paper-based operations simply cannot compete.
