- Pornhub, Stripchat, XNXX, XVideos — preliminary breach findings for inadequate age verification (2025-2026)
- Snapchat — formal DSA investigation opened March 2026
- Fines up to 6% of global annual turnover or €18M — whichever is higher
The problem is acute for:
- Small/mid-sized platforms that can't afford enterprise identity verification suites
- E-commerce sellers of age-restricted products (alcohol, vaping, knives, supplements)
- Gaming platforms and communities accessible to minors
- Content platforms with user-generated content that may be inappropriate for children
- Any website with a chat/social feature that could expose minors to harm
Most have NO solution beyond a checkbox. The EU's "mini-wallet" age verification pilot is only in 5 countries. Smaller platforms are left scrambling.
